Best Apps to Buy Second Hand Items in India 2026: Bikes, Phones, Laptops & More

Buying used often saves 30–60% — but the app you buy on decides whether you get a warranty, a return window, or nothing at all if the item turns out bad. The big split: company-refurbished stores (Cashify, Amazon Renewed, Cars24, Spinny) test the item and give a warranty, while owner-to-owner apps (OLX, Facebook Marketplace, Bids44) are cheaper but you do the checking.

Here is who is best for what — and the one rule that applies everywhere: never pay before you have seen the item.

Honest limits: Bids44 is younger than OLX, so there are fewer listings, deals are local pickup, and there's no platform warranty — the same inspection rules as any owner-to-owner app apply.

OLX (run by CarTrade Tech) still has the biggest choice of used bikes, cars, phones and furniture from individual owners. There is no buyer protection: OLX's own safety advice is to meet in person, pay only after inspecting, and keep chats inside OLX. Since July 2025 OLX sells a paid Elite Buyer pack per category (priority chat, and on the Pro tier seller phone numbers) — launch prices ranged from ₹49 (mobiles, basic) to ₹3,999 (cars, Pro) for 30 days.

Cashify refurbishes phones and laptops itself and sells them with a 6-month Cashify warranty and a 15-day refund window on mobiles, laptops, tablets and smartwatches bought online (48 hours for other categories). Liquid damage isn't covered, and warranty payouts shrink as the device ages. The trade-off is price: you pay a premium over owner-to-owner deals for that safety net.

Cars24 sells cars it owns after a 300-point inspection, with a 30-day / 999 km return (deductions from ₹10,000) and a 30-day repair cover, plus paid extended warranty options. It also lists private "verified direct sellers" with an inspection report.

Spinny sells company-owned cars at a fixed price after a 200-point inspection, with a 5-day money-back guarantee and warranty on the engine and gearbox for a year. Good if you want no negotiation and no paperwork hassle.

Amazon Renewed India is a section of Amazon where third-party refurbishers sell graded devices. Premium-grade items carry a one-year brand warranty; Excellent and Good grades carry at least six months of seller warranty. Check the return window on each product page — it varies by category.

Budli sells its own refurbished stock with cash-on-delivery available — useful if you'd rather pay at the door.

Marketplace and local buy-sell groups are full of neighbourhood deals, especially furniture and household items. Treat every deal as cash-on-inspection.

⚠️ Facebook's checkout and Purchase Protection work only in the continental US — Indian buyers have no platform protection.

Flipkart's refurbished section offers a 7-day replacement-only policy: Flipkart troubleshoots first and, if no defect is confirmed, sends you to the warranty partner.

How to buy second hand without getting scammed

• Never pay in advance — not a "token", not "courier charges". The army-officer / "I'm transferred" story is the most common scam on OLX and Facebook.
• Never scan a QR code to receive money. Scanning a QR only ever sends money.
